Ages 5 - 10, PreK - 4th grade
$220 / student (sliding scale tuition available $150 - $220)
Beginners (for brand new beginners to piano to less than 1 year of piano)
Children learn best through play! Designed for students ages 5 - 10 (pre-K - 4th grade) who are always on the go, this program offers a unique blend of movement, rhythm instruments, singing, piano technique, and games inspired by Dalcroze eurhythmics. Students will explore emotions like happy, sad, mad, overwhelmed, and overwhelmed each day through music, arts and crafts, stories, and games. Older beginners with a few months of piano lessons will learn how to create different moods through improvisation and composition (12 bar blues, an Irish Jig, an Arabian / Egyptian dance, and a Pirates and Castles march.)
By the end of the week, students will play simple piano solos as well as duets with friends. They will also learn creative strategies for coping with various emotions. Tuition includes music books, supplies, and for K - 1st graders, a copy of the children’s book “The Magical Science of Feelings” by local author Jenn Daily.
